I haven’t posted much or even been on Oppo lately, because I’ve been working on this for the last lots of days. (I’ve kind of lost track of time at this point...) But thankfully my final is over with and I can sleep. Don’t do architecture, kids. Not even once...

Hey now, I’ve got one semester left in my masters, don’t tell me not to Architecture.

Is it a building for ants? It needs to be at least three times bigger.
Just kidding. I’ve always been fascinated with architecture. Don't get into finance. Not even once.

Real life stuff (not as exciting as studio)

Nice exploded axo on the wall. I can just get a glimpse of it. Also, super nice model. What’s the building’s program?

It is actually a building for ants, and it is perfectly scaled for them.

Thanks! It’s a dorm building for 100ish people

I like it.

T minus 10 days until I start my winter internship and do real stuff again. It can be fun though!

Thanks! It’s supposed to be a critique of the traditional dorm/apartment model, so it’s kind of radical

But microeconomics on the other hand.... That’s safe, right???

If you can apply it to real world situations. Sure! I was pre law now I'm working in commercial and residential real estate. Go figure.

I personally like the aesthetic of the whole container architecture movement. Your piece kinda calls in line with that.
It’s funny because your plan probably offers more privacy by having that slight gap between each unit - less likely to hear the guy next door banging drunk girls at 3am.

That brings back memories (m’arch in 2006)- what’s the white structure modeled out of? Are schools using Revit finally?

The structure on the roof and facade is 3d printed and painted silver, actually. I used Revit for my project because I learned it over the summer, but I think I was the only one who did. Everyone else uses Rhino 5

I graduated with my 5 year bachelors in architecture from IIT right when the economy went down the toilet. Needless to say, I’m not going to be an architect anymore.
